The Green New deal which is Howie Hawkins and the Green Party policy. They want to implement, public jobs for the unemployed in public works. Increase minimum wage to 15/hour so people can actually live off of minimum wage. Doesn't believe in a trickle down system because money don't get to the middle/lower class. Howie understand the struggle of the average citizen because she worked middle class construction jobs. Built in progressive personal tax. Free health care for all New York. Disagrees with common core and believes that teachers should create their own curriculum and lesson plans because they know whats best for students.Free Tuition at CUNY, SUNY, and Community Colleges. Statewide income-based property tax circuit breaker for homeowners. Honest that he doesn't know if tolls are going to be increased, but says he want to modify the public transportation system so it's facile for average citizens. He wants 100% clean energy by 2030. Going to band tracking because it's toxic to the earth. Wants equal civil rights and racial justice. Fair Elections and getting rid of the two-party system of corporate rule with multi-party democracy.Wants to end corruption in the government.
This make Howie Hawkins the better candidate because he isn't funded by the wealth 1% so she isn't bias and has experience because he is the middle class.

On Wednesday October 22, 2014, the New York Gubernatorial Debate was taken place in Buffalo. There, the four candidates Andrew Cuomo (Democrat) who focuses on independence for working class families and women’s equality, Rob Astorino (Republican) who focuses conservative believes and to stop common core lines, Howie Hawkins (Green Party) who is a long term activist and wants to go Green in New York and Michael McDermott (Libertarian) who had one thing they were focused on, which was convincing people on why they should be governor. The person I believed who won the debate was indeed Howie Hawkin. Howie Hawkin brought up many ideas and proposals that can benefit New York such as The Green New Deal which would create “youthful jobs, minimum wages, affordable housing and affordable healthcare...” Many Yorkers believe that these topics are truly the real issues that New York faces even till this day, which is not solved. Another proposal he mentions is establishing a Greener New Yorker in which banning hydrofracking which is natural extraction. He claims that if we still pursue hydrofracking then it would cause pollution of our waters and lands like Pennsylvania. In addition, he wants to go “back to foundation aid formula which is based on court order to promote every student like our state constitution says..base education...fully fund our school.” He evens plans on legalizing marijuana also he plans on creating new rehabilitation projects that will help many individuals and he mentions that “...tens and thousands of people go to prison for nonviolent offenses for holding and using marijuana...94% of prisoners in state jail are blacks and latinos..” This information here will gain more voters especially the minority groups in which he would have more New Yorkers hearts.
ReplyDeleteHis other oppositions were ignoring the major issues in New Yorker's, instead Andrew Cuomo and Rob Astorino talk about false advertising, being racist, raising or lower taxes on specific areas. It is not what you should do when you are on live Television and millions of people are watching you for having verbal brawls. It is not what a governor should do. Andrew Cuomo says how he is focuses on independence for working class but never stated what he wanted to do so he can draw in more people and he fell for many of Rob Astorino’s traps in provoking him in fact did work throughout debate. Rob Astorino is basically more focused on Andrew Cuomo and his mistakes than winning more people’s votes. He blames Cuomo’s common core, Cuomo's tax credits, Cuomo’s having a criminal justice system behind him. He never focused on Anti-gun controls, Abortion, what to put inside of Common Core, etc. Next is Michael McDermott who sorry to say was in the backgrounds of this debates. He did not say anything spontaneous of what he plans on doing to New York.
Overall, clearly Howie Hawkins stole the show and many viewers can say that now we can know more about him. It would be good to look past all the publicity and false accusations instead we should center their attention on the major manner which is Who will be 2015 New York's Governor? The question still remains a mystery...
